As your club president for 2017, I welcome you, new and return members, as we look forward to the “70th year” of the Memphis World Trade Club’s (MWTC) commitment to the initiation, promotion and implementation of international trade in our community and around the nation. I personally will dedicate myself to working with our officers and board to provide speakers throughout the year that will bring wider knowledge to all matters pertaining to international trade. The club will provide greater efficiency for techniques, a medium for interchange of information and opinions, render services and initiatives, and foster and promote fellowship among those interested in this focus.
Serving our international community through the MWTC provides us with ways to strengthen our international community through interaction with key industry leaders. This year we will continue to offer our members opportunities for networking and idea sharing through monthly luncheons and various gatherings like the annual golf tournament supporting the Nell Baugh Scholarship Fund, Port of New Orleans Night, and many more.
I urge all members to do their part to move our club forward, whether it is volunteering to serve on one of our many committees or encouraging friends and colleagues who may benefit from our efforts by joining the club. Our initiative as a club this year is to have our members involved in the progress of the club. Please reach out to any one of the board members if you are looking to be involved in moving our organization forward. We are looking forward to working with each of you and together making a difference for ourselves, our industry, and our communities.
